Short History about the DeYoung's of Woodinville
John DeYoung bought the Teegarden Merchantile from Clara Jacobsen Teegarden in 1925 and renamed it Woodinville Merchantile.
The DeYoung family built their home on the property where Washington Mutual Bank stands today.
In addition to the store, the DeYoungs had a feed and grain business, a shingle mill, and other businesses.
On May 14, 1998, a new park in the center of town was dedicated to the DeYoung family.
The house that formerly stood on this property, the new park, was built in the 1920s and surrounded by wonderful old trees. The Coopers later bought the house. In 1979, The Woodinville Weekly rented the house and was the last occupant.
